Advice on upgrade SSD on XPS8900
Have XPS8900 with 32GB memory, Samsung 256GB SSD (Drive C:), Toshiba 2TB HDD (Drive D:), WDC 1 TB HDD (Bkup Drv K:). Running on win 10 Ver 1709. The Toshiba HDD is an overflow drive for the SSD and is imaged concurrently along with the SSD every 2 weeks to Drive K: using Macrium Reflect software.
I want to replace the 256GB SSD with a 500GB SSD. Normally, using the enclosed migration software that comes with the new SSD it readily moves everything over to the new SSD. But since I have the 2TB HDD set up as an overflow drive do I need to take anything into consideration on this upgrade?

I would recommend disconnecting the sata cable from the D: Drive while you are doing your migration/clone of the SSD drive and then after successfully booting with the new drive, go back and reconnect the sata cable to your D: Drive. It just makes things cleaner when you're going through the upgrade.

In analyzing this change I think it may not be possible to replace the 256Gb SSD with a 500Gb 850 EVO SSD drive. The original SSD is mounted on the main board and is physically 1/3 the size of the 850 EVO drive. With the existing 2 hard drives installed I would have to install the new SSD in the tertiary position but then I guess you would have to physically remove the 256Gb dirve and leave the slot open? How to make the new SSD drive C? Just doesn't look possible. Comments please!
