420 with 8800 GT Dual Monitor problems, Vista DVI

Hi, Having a problem with the 420 not recognizing both monitors, sometimes. After plugging them in and out, we can sometimes get Vista (or the nvidia control panel) to recognize the second monitor, but on shut down and restart it reverts back to not recognizing it. We are using 2 dell monitors that work, using DVI connection. We have updated the drivers, swapped out monitors, cables, restarted with things plugged in and not. We have called dell and gotten a new video card, same problem. Sometimes we can get dual monitor to work, by plugging in and out the cables and power. Anyone else have this problem? Pretty sure it is nvidia and vista not playing together.

Very strange. Mine works perfectly (which I know isn't a help, except to say that it SHOULD work). Sounds like you've swapped out all of the hardware, eliminating that as an issue. Have you tried reinstalling Vista? Sounds like about the only thing left...

Thanks, we actually have 2 of these 420 systems, identical configs, one doesnt wake from deep sleep, and the other has this dual monitor issue.

Update. Now both systems will not recognize the second monitor.  I have even switched out video cards from the 8800 GT to an older nvidia 7950...still no luck.
