win 10 System Image

I did a clean install of win 10  on my AreA 51  R2. and for a couple of weeks I was able to save a system image on a 'installed; HDD.  2 days ago, any option to save a system image is missing from the page

in System and Security in the File Backups.  It saves user files as designed ( on a time schedule ) and this is great. So what is going on with the Blank Page in System Image Backup?  No options there at all  now.

I noticed some windows updates, but theres no mention of  the change in  any windows forums. I did not  blindly change any setting.

Thanks for the Advice.  Would you indulge me with a brief rundown on Basically why A formatted sata HDD dedicated for backups  is a BAD idea?

Well, it's better than nothing, however, it doesn't protect against these scenarios since it's inside the main computer box (and can't really be disconnected stored away from computer or off-site):

Fire, flood, theft. Also, it would be more susceptible to virus infection or ransom-ware-lockout.

Finally, in the event of a major catastrophe ... you might have difficultly accessing internal HDD (for restore) since it's not considered "removable media" (due to Windows security, permissions, etc.).

You can look for an answer or post your question here:

Personally, I use Macrium Reflect Free. It's a stand-alone program and allows "bare-metal" restores, and multiple full Images. Also, there is a "Verify on creation" option.

And whatever you use ... better to save Image file to external USB HDD or similar.

It seems I may have been a mistake weeks ago when I formatted in diskmanager, b4 doing the system image backup.  I deleted the formatted backup volume, then made a new simple volume. Reaasigned a 'new' drive letter. Now the dialogue appears in "image backup". and is selectable as a drive. This is dedicated for backup..
