Serial number locations
Hello, My sons dell alienware was stolen. Recently one has been posted for sale at pawn shop nearby. I have the original box and the receipt from Best Buy and was wondering if the serial number could be on the box? Thanks

Hi bacha1972,
The box should have an sticker with the Service Tag and the Express Service code. It may be that the receipt also contains this information.

I don't know if this holds true for all Alienware products, but on some, the Service Tag is listed on the Bios page before it shipped to customer (either on the Main page or in the System Info page or similar). In the likely event where the thief removed outward identifiers / labels / tags, accessing the computer when it's turned on could reveal the service tag (attached to the internal computer mainboard, see photo), as a final form of proof of ownership. You must obtain the service tag or express ID 1st, you would then compare it to the outward labels on the computer, or, if they're missing, in the Bios page (if it is recorded there)
The Express Srvc ID can be used to reveal the separate Service Tag on Dell.com/support & vice versa (to have the one gives access to both). Good luck
