Performance Issues

Hello, currently I can run a lot of games with High+ settings that look amazing on my Alienware R3 (4k). But, It's not the performance I would have expected. I've seen countless videos on Youtube of people with the same exact laptop getting 3x better performance than me. I've tried everything from changing my screen resolution to HD (which just makes it worse) to upgrading my RAM but nothing will change. Running Minecraft Shaders Mod on Alienware 17 r3 - YouTube here is an example.
