My Alienware has melted/bubled

Hi the bottom case on my Alienware had melted/bubbled and the machine keeps freezing up.

I've reinstalled Windows but everytime I install Nvidia drivers it freezes up, or gives me driver errors, or when it does work, tells me the card is not directx 11 compatible.  Does anyone have any ideas?

its the Alienware 17.2" with the 970m.

i knew it was a Laptop before i opened the Thread. these Things can get really hot and yours, welb, took it to another Level.

run EPSA Test first. hit F12 during Boot and choose it from the List.

but to be Honest it looks like your Nvidia Card took a Hit. your Warranty expired by now, right?

Thanks for the reply! :-)

No warranty is good until May 2019. :-) I bought this last year as a refurb.

Thanks for the tip - booting it up to run the test now!

Edit: it says tests so far are fine? Also attached an image show card doesn't have directx11 but also showing it's recognised.  Maybe a motherboard issue or something?

Edit two: actually a couple of times it failed on USB devices but then went through OK when I clicked re-run.

well since you re-installed Windows i doubt that it's Software related. i meen you have melted Parts. of course it's a Hardware Error. call Dell Support and let them Fix it. i'm sure the Tech Guy will be as surprised as i am.

Actually seeing as my machine has melted, I'm surprised the tech guys on here have not asked for my warranty details!

they are probably busy. if you don't want to wait then call Dell. the Result will be the same.

I've sent them a website support request with a link to this thread. I've just moved to mainland Europe and it will cost an absolute fortune to phone the UK to arrange pickup here (if that's even possible from the UK) and I dont have the language skills to report this to dell phone support here.

ah, okay then. i understand that. but you can still try to call and ask "do you speak English?" and if not just hang up the Phone. some of us European speak English. well we try.
