My alienware 15 r3 CPU 7820HK getting to 100C this is normal?

Hi,

I just bought my alienware when checked it hardware I noticed the CPU hitting 100C at max load...

this is complete madness.

I can feel the super hot air coming from behind and from the sides.

I am not kidding if I put some plastic bag close to it air exit bay it will melt probably

and I am using the air con in the room, I think if I turn it off it will get even higher...

is that normal? while I am playing games the CPU always over 80C for example at over watch at 120FPS it running around 90C mostly.

I have no issues sometimes frame drops but not sure if this is because of heat or just something else.

my computer don't have any overclocking settings.

to keep it cooler I decided to undervolt the offset by 0.138v so I can keep it under 90c.

I paid 3000USD for that machine, it supposed to be premium high end computer with over clocking abilities and in fact I need to underclock it to make sure my house won't burn up.

please share your experience I wonder if there anything I can do? I am very disappointed of this machine.

Hi @lamisraeli,

Make sure the BIOS is up to date, if the issue persists after this, send me a private message with the service tag so I can assist you further.

Well guys I want to share with you my experience overall.

Dell replaced two motherboards, and my heatsinks and fans which did not helped at all, it just dropped the temperatures by 2-3 degrees only.

I already had 4 visits from them even the manager came to my apartment to confirm the problem and check the OS.

during the last visit the technician let me speak with dell directly as he couldn't resolve the issue.

and they tried to convince me this is normal having 97 degrees on CPU,

he even did over clocking to show me that nothing happens to my computer and 102 degrees it reached this is okay...

the funny thing they tried use many different softwares and even installed other windows to see if it helps to drop the CPU temps or giving me fake results.

but the fact we are gammers community and I belive most of us understand thing or two in computer hardware.

I pointed them directly intel website and then into throttle issue which start even with default settings without any overclocking, and btw the overclocking they did, not worked as CPU dropped the clocks automatically to minimum to make sure it won't burn up and get cool.

then when he actually understood my point and the fact it has a problem after almost 3 hours of conversation on the phone.

they told me "we will call you at the end of this week"

of course... nobody called me at all.

then when I called them myself (today) almost one week after the week they supposed to call me.

they made incredible demands "you did not returned a part"

could someone how could I not return the part? the dell technician he came to my house he "fixed" it and he toke everything with him every time.

so how could I save anything for myself?

anyway now they are "checking" again...

and for now I stuck with 3000USD radiator which can't be returned back to seller as too many days passed already as I though dell going to fix it.

but now it become a nightmare for me.

I am very UNHAPPY customer.

I hope they will fix it, I keep you updated and post this on all computer forums later too.
