Hello!  The Alienware M17X R3 I dont think ever came with Quadro graphics.  You could try installing the 3d Controller driver in the support page here, but its possible using the Quadro card is causing a conflict somewhere with the computer itself. Someone else may have thoughts on it too.

Agreed. We never tested a Quadro GPU in any of the Alienware Laptops. The Quadro used different drivers, not the Nvidia consumer gaming driver. I doubt that the Nvidia consumer gaming driver would install correctly on the Quadro GPU. In the 2011 M17x-R3, we validated the following Nvidia GPU =
RFYN9 N12E-GTX2 GeForce GTX580m (Video card 3MF8R + Thermal Assembly V1K2G)
8H4G6 N12E-GS GeForce GTX560m (Video card YT99J + Thermal Assembly J9H7X)
87XRJ N11E-GS GeForce GTX460m (Video card VDV04 + Thermal Assembly J9H7X)
