Linux on the Alienware 17 R4 -- what about the warranty?

Hi,

As long as I retain the factory-set partition table and Windows 10, does resizing the Windows 10 partition and installing Linux create any problems with Dell's hardware warranty? I have a new Alienware 17 R4.

My work involves using Linux and I'm a fairly experienced Linux user, so I won't have trouble doing all the configuration myself. But since my laptop is new and I am still testing it, I am eager to know what Dell's warranty policy is.

Any comments are welcome!

Thanks!

Installing the non-supported Linux does not effect the hardware warranty. Just resizing the Windows 10 partition is not an issue. That should not effect the compressed Factory image. Finding component drivers could pose to be a problem. The Alienware specific software will not work in Linux. In any hardware troubleshooting, we will ask you to boot back into Windows 10.

I would suggest downloading VMware or something like that and create a virtual pc loaded with Linux. That is what I did, and I haven't had any issues with compatibility.
