Is cable CN-0NT424 compatible with the multi media card reader that was in the Aurora R1 and XPS in 2009?
Looking for a longer cable for my Alienware R1's multi media card reader. The one going to MI/O board is to short for the re-purposing job I have in mind. I want to control it from a 10-1pin USB 2 header on another board for a 3d Printer I'm building.
Thank You

I'd like to think the Area-51 R1 762HP cable is compatible > https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=ALIENWARE+aurora+media+card&LH_PrefLoc=1&_sop=10&_oac=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XALIENWARE+area+51+media+card.TRS0&_nkw=ALIENWARE+area+51+media+card&_sacat=0

The black NT424 is quite inexpensive, you might purchase one & within a few minutes be able to compare the wiring pinout against what you have there. If all the pin colors match into their respective slots, it will work regardless if the colors differ. And so long as the wire count is the same (mine has 6 wires), if any wires / pins in NT424 are in a wrong slot relative to yours, within a minute, taking a needle to lift the plastic pin stopper up, you can back the pin out and place it into (re-arrange it) whatever slot it needs to go into to be compatible, if that makes sense. Wire color won't matter, matching all 6 wires at both ends into their correct slots is what matters
Typically, when there's a pair of 'black' wires in a USB harness, one is true ground (true black color / full insulated wire), one is 'charcoal / dark grey' or more like a heat shrink covering the ground shield ie a 1/2" piece of heatshrink. I sleeved my harness and can't tell anymore which is which, I just labeled them blk here. If an NT424 needed pins re-arranged, or simply when comparing, keep an eye out for any color difference between the two 'blacks' and what you have there, verify if in correct slots or not, proceed accordingly
Indications are the NT424 is 16"-17.5", Area-51 762HP is 24"+ (can't measure mine)

Aurora R4 - Media Card Reader not working consistently
Lunch break here Wiz, when I get home I can sniff around in device manager to see if my card reader's in there, if so, what driver it uses
Aurora Historical Drivers Suite Page (didn't see a dedicated driver, that should mean generic 7 drivers work)

Let us say that as soon as Windows sees it, it will automatically install generic prefetchable drivers, circa 2006
My card reader shows up in two places / 5 instances (arrows), all use 2006 Micro$oft basic drivers. If Windows doesn;t detect your card reader I'd suspect an issue; you can of course use your original short cable to test with - if no problem with old cable, suspect new cable

I downloaded the USB 3 drivers for the board and that took care of the USB
2 drivers. I guess since I didn't have any USB 2 devices connected when I
did the clean install it didn't activate them. Problem solved. Thanks again
for your help. The pin outs helped make sure the longer cable was golden.
