GPU fan not working M17x r5
Hi, my alienware M17x R5 GPU fan has suddenly stopped working , I have opened and cleaned the fan, updated the bios and video card but still not booting up when temperature is high. I have ran a diagnostics on the fan itself and test are good ( fan spins when tested, fan passed test, but results say 0 rpm for min , max ?). I downloaded HMINFO64 to see if I can manually get the fan going , results are shown in screenshot. http://imgur.com/a/RKOxx , why isn't it showing fan 1 and 2 on separate functions, I cannot even access fan 2 as seen. I am not overly computer literate dell support are unable to help much , any help would be much appreciated , thanks

Hi
Thanks very much for the reply , unfortunately and not for my fault my warranty was not extended this year , they will allow me to extend this but the price has gone up so much , I cannot afford this at the moment
Yes I tried MSI afterburner and it doesn’t recognise , or cannot see the fan , speed fan though can, but I don’t know how to use this application , enclosed is a screen shot

open Youtube and search for "how to Speedfan" and you will find a Bunch of Tutorials.
what you can try before you buy a new one is Clear CMOS + Power Drain. maybe your BIOS / Motherboard has some Issues.
remove Laptop Battery
disconnect all Cables
disconnect Coin Cell Battery from the Motherboard
hold Power On Button for a Minute
sometimes it helps.

I have ran it afew times and I can now feel the fan exhausting heat from the GPU side , so unsure what was going on
