Does a GTX 1080 Ti (Zotac Amp Extreme) work with R4?

Hi fellow Alienware gamers,

I recently bought a 1080 for my Alienware and tried to install it, but all I am getting is the 6 beeps on startup of my system.

My Alienware is from October 2014 and with its 875W should be able to handle the new graphics card. I used the GTX 770 before but wanted an upgrade.

Someone has an idea why it does not work? I already did a CMOS reset before putting the card in the PCI-Slot. Unfortuantely it did not help.

Do I need to deinstall my graphics card (and drivers) before I put in the new one?

Greetings and thanks in advance!

welb, the BIOS is still too old for my Taste but what can you do?

check the Power Connectors again on both Ends. maybe one of them is not Properly Connected.

try different HDMI / Display Port.

oh and try Clear CMOS again after you installed the Card. remove the Battery and hold the Power On Button for 30 Sec.

I have the latest BIOS if its the A11 (from January 2014). It fits exactly in ... youre right, it is a little big for this ALX body, but it just fits in. I had to remove that plastic cover tho.

It looks seated properly as well. This is how it looks like:

I cleared CMOS and removed the battery as you said. Additionally I tried to push the card really carefully into the slot. I started anew without having the Nvidia Drivers deinstalled and ta-da: It works now.

Thank you really much for being here at the weekend!
