Cant overclock 5920K past 4GHZ
So I started doing a lot of reading on overclocking and thought I would give it a try before I upgraded my CPU. I have an i7 5920K and using the AW software. I have it on Profile 2 on my area 51 R2. When I go in the software I set all cores to 4.2 ghz and for voltage i give it 1.25 volts. When I do the stress test it runs perfect! I ran it for about 4 hours last night and it stayed at 4.19 ghz the whole time with temps getting in the mid 70ish C. I thought I was set however as soon as I started up a game, I would get the Blue screen and have to reset my bios. At first I thought it was a power supply issue, However with my watt meter im only pulling 450 watts with my 850 watt power supply. Am I missing something or do I just have a dude of a card? Thanks!

Hi waternut13134.
what Stress Test are you using exactly?
and your CPU is 5930K, right?

Hey Carbon. Im using Aida 64 for the stress test. I even had it stress the GPU to make sure it wasnt spiking the power supply and having it shut down. Everything was running just fine. Unfortunately is the 5920K in my system.

it is either 5820K or 5930K. i guess you have 5820K just like me.
1.25v is rather optimistic. i would say give it more but your Temps are already in mid 70s, so backdown on Clockspeed a bit. what are your Idle Temps?

Right now it looks like Command Center has the overclock set to 4GHZ across the board, I was just hoping to get more since I saw people were getting 4.5 and some 4.6ghz. Idle im around 27C on a Cosair H80i AIO.

haha... well yeah. 4,5 GHz is kinda Wet Dream for a 5820K Owner.
some people have Issues to run 4,0 GHz with "normal" Voltage. some People are running the CPU @ 4,2 GHz @ 1,35v and that is already the absolute Limit for me.
BTW, you tested the CPU without heavy GPU Load which adds more Heat to your CPU during Gaming. so that could be also the Reason why the Test passed but the Game crushed. Corsair H80i is a good Cooler actually. maybe ramp up your entire Cooling Setup and try again. then watch the Temps closely.

Fixed my Post.
