Aurora r6 gpu and psu upgrade help!!

Yes I am purchasing a new gtx 1080 g1 and a evga psu. Just trying to see what I do with the mobo gpu power and the actual gpu power on the card.  Do I hook both of them up?

text on the front panel 8pin ports of a typical EVGA power supply are denoted as either CPU or VGA (ie Grfx /PCI-E)

  • GPU_PWR header is powered by, and only by, your 2nd CPU 8pin cable (either a solid 8 or a 4+4)

  • 1080 Grfx card is powered by your 6+2 Grfx (VGA) 8pin cable(s)

  • motherboard top CPU 4pin is powered by your 1st CPU (4+4) cable (see above)
