Aurora R5 Memory question

Hello all,

I am still awaiting my Aurora R5 to ship but I was looking to upgrade my memory speed as I bought the 16gb of 2133MHz. I read the manual and it says max is 2400MHz XMP.

I was reading the crucial site aurora r5 memory upgrades and it says its compatible to as high as 3200 MHz XMP

I have the i7-6700k OC'ed to 4.2 Ghz so I was wondering if its a good idea for me to buy higher then 2400 MHz speed. Thank you!

Unknown. I can only go by the current sales page and internal specifications that state 16GB is the maximum for 2400MHz DDR4 XMP. Since we will not test 3000MHz DDR4, there is no way we can know. Our warranty would not cover any damage caused by it. Could it brick the motherboard, maybe. Could it only cause a no post, maybe.

They are incorrect. We never tested 3200MHz DDR4. As far as I can tell, we only validated a maximum of 16GB DDR4 XMP 2400MHz Kingston Fury X memory. 64GB would be for the DDR4 2133MHz memory. I sent an email to the Alienware team to get clarification on the maximum allowed DDR4 XMP 2400MHz.

Thank you Chris! I have a theoretical question if you will be so kind to give me an answer to the best of your knowledge! I saw a post in the 2400MHz XMP display error that said someone is using ddr4 2666MHz and he posted a pic of it, now o was wondering when you mean validated and tested are you saying the official amount or the indefinite amount? Say I was to place 16-32gb of 3000MHz XMP, would the motherboard support it or would be just give me BSOD and/or potential hardware damage?

Thank you!
