Aurora R5 M.2 bios settings
Hi all,
Getting ready to install a Samsung Pro 950 512GB NVMe as my boot drive. Does anyone have the BIOS setting that are needed to do this? I would assume any NVMe would have the same settings, so if you don't have a Samsung post them anyway.
Thanks

Hi,
The Samsung Pro 950 512GB NVMe is not compatible with this computer. And, for setting up an SSD as the boot drive, you just need to change the boot priority in the BIOS.

Hey all found the PM571 523GB on Raktuen for $179. If you open a credit card it drops the price to $100. I know it's not as fast as the 950, but at that price you can't beat it.

Alixij,
I've cloned my Pro 950 SSD from the factory installed 1tb HD, wiped the HD after confirming that it was possible to boot from the SSD (it required me to hit F12 and select it manually). Now I'm not even able to do that. I've tried changing to AHCI but I still can't select the SSD as a boot option anywhere.
This sounds like the same problem you had but I can't follow the solution based on what's been posted here. Any ideas how to make the SSD bootable/selectable from the menus?
Thanks.

Thanks for responding Alixij. My BIOS is 1.0.2 but this may be because its an Alienware 15 R3. Not sure if they all use the same - probably not? I'm in a bit of a mess with it all right now. I wiped the HD to try to force the SSD to boot automatically but all that did was give me the headache of not being able to boot from the SSD at all now (it was through hitting F12 previously).
