Aurora R4 Wont boot past Alien Head Image. Black Screen
Hello!
I have an Aurora R4 that will stop booting immediately after the alienware head image, at a black screen. It also will Beep 1 time (Bios corrupt, mobo corrupt code - from my research)
Funny thing is, that when I swapped out GPU's and HDD's it booted up one or 2 good times, then went back to the same problem. Now it still wont boot no matter what hardware is in there.
I reset CMOS, replaced CMOS battery, booted with no USB plugged in, different GPU's, released power from the PSU by starting it while unplugged, tested each stick of RAM individually, different HDD, HDMI vs DVI, even tried 2 monitors incase the GPU was defaulting to that.
Also, you cannot get into BIOS or Boot Options. The keyboard works and the caps lock light will show up and turn off, but if you try to get into BIOS or Boot Options it will show your selection but ignore it completely.
Is this a bad mobo? Thanks!

Yes I have tried the GFX cards in different slots. And yes when it boots, it goes to the alienware head and beeps once, but sits there so long at the full blue bar that it beeps again, then on the 3rd beep it goes to a black screen. It probably sits there 5 minutes at the full blue bar with the alien head and beeps a total of 3 times, but not consecutively, about every 1.5 minutes
If i have my backup gpu in, it will show the product info of that card on the first black screen then just sit there.
I have enough spare parts that I have ruled everything out but the PSU, dont have any extra of those.

I don't know, but if you've been around Aurora R4 long enough when it worked, you're supposed to get one beep, at least by the time the blue bar is done loading as it passes P.O.S.T., you get a beep that means 'I'm ok'
There are many reasons why a desktop will black screen, in the rare time it happened here it black screened after the initial Windows logo when I changed my monitor for something else. Go back to old monitor and things work again. You've certainly tried a number of basic troubleshooting steps, enough that I can't say what's wrong or what to do next if it were mine. I'd be forced to go back to the last Grfx card & monitor that worked as a base line, try Grfx card in different slot. If I had a Windows DVD I might try to boot into it just to get s video output test. Otherwise, to out a bad motherboard we usually need spares of good CPU, Grfx Card, monitor, memory, power supply & good 3volt CMOS battery. Hard drive won't matter in a word where we just need access into the Bios or be able to boot into a WinDVD etc. If keyboard / mouse 'freeze' or become useless you can switch to a different USB port. Yours spazzed out for some reason, but unless you have a closet full of spare parts to test with, I'm not sure what to say, I'd encourage you to do some more reading up & continue to pursue troubleshooting steps like the ones you've already performed > may be time to consider your local Pro, get an estimate for a basic diagnosis at the shop, or enlist help of friend / co-worker who may themselves have 'known good parts' to lend or allow your parts to be tested in their stuff. If you get it figured out, report back what the fix was
Thankfully the R4 motherboard has demand & value in the market, so, even if you bought one (at a steep price) & did not need it, it could be re-sold and may even eventually sell for a good price
7JNH0 is the initial Sandy motherboard, FPV4P was shipped with Ivy, find your board by its part tag near the memory

the only time mine locks up at the alienhead Bios logo is if I have a wifi in the USB3.0 top external port by the power on button, it'll freeze up & hang forever w/a full blue bar, I'm not even sure if it beeps, I don't think it does beep. With your backup GPU in, try to boot into a Windows DVD, if it works, exit / abort 'install', you're looking for signs of life out of motherboard ... of course with that backup GPU, you're merely trying to tap F2 to get into Bios or F12 to run ePSA diagnostic, won't even do that huh? If not, wait for other's help and search Aurora black screen on this forum, there might be solved answers tips or advice
