ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller Failed? (WPE01-ERE)
Last week my Chaos G905 Mouse stopped working plugged into the back of the computer. It kept periodically disconnecting and Windows 10 kept alerting me that the "device has malfunctioned". Then it stopped working completely.
After a few hours of troubleshooting, the mouse only seems to work when plugged into my keyboard (Razer Chroma V2), which is also plugged into the back USB hub (strange huh?)
I couldn't get the mouse to work in ANY other USB port/HUB (front or back) only plugged into the keyboard.
Now I ran the Dell SupportAssist diagnostics and I keep getting this message, I think it may be the key to all my issues.
I followed all instructions online and can't seem to find a fix, I've changed the power management settings to always enable USB power at max levels. And in device manager I edited to properties to "Disable" power saving for the USB Hubs when not used.
I've tried uninstalling the drivers and letting Windows 10 reinstall them upon restarts and more restarts and it doesn't fix the issue.
The last thing I tried was downloading this ASMedia USB3.1 driver directly from Dell and reinstall it. But still showing this error.
Not sure what my USB has to do with my PCI - Express slots, but I keep getting this.
Anyone know a fix?

What make and model computer do you have?
Have you tried NOT using the USB-3.1 port ? (it's special) IIRC, on my Aurora-R6, the small USB-C port and the normal-sized USB port near it are the only USB-3.1 ports (and using that AS-Media chip controller). All the rest are more normal USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 ports and using the Intel's USB chipset controller.

I have the Aurora R5:
Yes, I've also tried the other USB 2.0 slots in the back. Do you have any idea what this error is showing from the SupportAssist tool?

Obviously, you must have the latest Dell driver installed for it. Start with support.dell.com .
If the port is working or at least not causing problems in Device Manager or Devices & Printers , I would not worry about it.
Apparently, SupportAssist often throws false-positives. I don't use it personally, but forum posts seem to indicate that.

Hi PoweredByPho.
i have a different AW Model but it has similar Issues. your Assumptions are Correct. the App even tells you what to do. however, i would do it a little Bit different. disconnect all Cables including Power Cord, USB and Monitor Cable and instead of waiting one Minute hold the Power On Button for a Minute.

That won't help if you get the message the controller cannot be found on the computer.

I have had the same problem with my Aurora 5. Somehow, and on a whim, I was able to install the latest drivers and it worked, until I connected an LG blu-ray burner and while burning a disc there was no power. I got code 46 informing me that the port was no longer connected. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers but no luck. The Asmedia Controller doesn't show up in Device Manager.

and then it shows up in Device Manager and works so you can install the Drivers and use it to burn your BDs.
