Alienware X51 r2 boots to Windows RE or dark gray screen
My Alienware X51 r2 will no longer boot to the Windows 10 login screen. Instead it shows a dark gray screen(which probably should be black but isn't due to the brightness) or the Windows Recovery Environment after the bios screen. I've tried using alienrespawn to restore my computer and eventually to reset it to factory settings, neither attempts have worked. I'm unable to use system restore since it refuses to accept my password and I'm sure I entered it correctly. It has at least been a week since my computer has stopped working. If anyone knows a fix for this or has suggestions on how to fix it I'd really appreciate it.

Do you have the recovery disc to reinstall Windows ? Make a Windows USB iso installation and do repair install. Windows update may have caused this issue

Hi,
Try running an ePSA/Diagnostic test on the system, click here to view a Dell article that explains how to run this test. Let me know if you receive any errors.

Thanks for responding. I ran the test and everything came back fine but I still have the dark gray screen. Do you have anymore suggestions?

Just wondering, will making a Windows USB iso installation overwrite my files if they're not already ruined?

Yes if you do clean install option it will erase everything and do fresh install.
You can try doing a repair install which will keep the work files but will overwrite system files.
