Alienware 15 r3, PCIE 3.0 X2 or X4?
Hello guys , I just ordered an Alienware 15 r3 with 256gb pcie and 1tb 7200rpm HDD. I know there are 3 M.2 slots so I want to install another PCIE M.2 ssd, like 960 pro.
The problem is 960pro is PCIE 3.0X4, and I have heard from someone that only 1 slot of these 3 M.2 support PCIE3.0X4, other two only support PCIE3.0 X2. Is that true? I know if you put a PCIE X4 SSD into a PCIE X2 slot , it won't perform thoroughly. I don't want to waste my money on 960 pro if it can't perform at its best.
Thank you for your reading and I really hope if you can provide me with the right answer.

Hi,
The system has 3 M.2 PCIE ports: 2 x PCIE3.0X4 and 1 x PCIE3.0 X2.
Let me know if you need something else!

This information was great to find for the detail in your answers above. The one thing missing is the standard used for all M.2 slots.
Is it M or B type cards that will work. The M type connector looks to be for slot 2 and 3 but the mSata slot1 is also M type?
