Alienware 15 R2 SSDs
I have recently purchased Alienware 15 R2. I have already replaced Hitachi 7200 rpm HDD on SATA-3 port with Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSD and performance is very good. Now I need to upgrade 250 GB SSD Toshiba SSD since it is not up to mark with very low write IOPs the with forthcoming Samsung 960 2 TB (EVO or Pro). I know its possible. But my question is I can keep my Toshiba SSD also as standby disk while making new 960 2 TB hard disk as boot disk. Are there 2 slots for NVME SSD of M2 form on Alienware R2.
On my earlier Alienware 14 (2013 version) I had kept 64 GB Boot Disk with OS my removing it from Raid Array, replaced 7200 RPM hard drive on SATA-3 with Samsung 850 Evo 1TB which had program files folder, and put 7200 rpm HDD on DVD drive withSATA-2 interface by removing DVD which is irrelevant in today's world of pen drives, for past 18 months wih excellent performance..

Hi,
It's completely doable. There are two slots and all you'll have to do is to install the new one, change the boot order and install Windows on the new drive. Then, you can format the old SSD and use it as storage.

They may have been looking at the wrong revision of the machine. The Alienware 15 R2 complies with what I specified above.

Thanks you very much for your reply. So I do not have to discard existing SSD and can use it for backup since SSD storage is still expensive. I was told by technical support team member that there is only one physical slot for M2 factor and one for SATA-3 at the most two HDDs/SSDs.
