Alienware 15 R2 - Slow performance, useless graphics amplifier
Hello all,
Purchased an Alienware 15R2 last summer along with a graphics amplifier and GTX 1070. Performed well for about 9 months, then started running into issues. While trying to play games (PUBG for example) the game will only run at about 20FPS compared to the 100FPS it will usually run. Navigating the OS has also become painstakingly slow - File Explorer takes about 5 seconds to appear once opened, even web browsers will lag the system and commonly freeze up. Office Suite and other utilities are almost unusable.
I initially tried a system reset using Windows 10 utility. Reset everything, new drivers all around, seemed to be OK. PUBG ran as expected for about two weeks - then the same symptoms returned. Did another reset - this time with no success. As a last ditch I completely formatted the SSD using GParted and did a fresh new install of windows 10 off of bootable USB. Updated all graphics drivers, updated bios on mobo. Games and OS ran well as stand alone laptop. Hooked up graphics amplifier and also had good results. Powered the system down gracefully and the next day the symptoms returned.
So now I have a $2,000 gaming setup that can hardly run windows without constant maintenance. Just outside of the year warranty (Purchased 5/2016)
Any suggestions or known issues?
Thank you for your help...

*Update* - Played games all day on Saturday, perfect performance. Bring laptop to work on Monday and back to it's sluggish state. Brought it home, hooked up graphics amplifier -- sluggish state. I changed nothing to fix it, and nothing to 'break' it.
Anyone...?

Thanks for your reply SpinergySynergy.
My power option is set to High Performance when using just the laptop as well as when on the dock.
Had another flawless day at work, brought it home and symptoms return including on the charger, off the charger and on the dock. All under high performance.
This is really a disappointment. I buy hundreds of workstations, laptops and servers from Dell and have never had any issues with warranty work on the Optiplex series.
Interesting to know that Dell doesn't cater to the owners of their flagship products.
