AlienFX / Command Center Issues: AW 13R3

Hey everyone -

I'd like to start off by saying that I've used the search function on all available forum channels, and reddit.  I've tried every available solution, but maybe there's one that I'm missing.

I'm having issues regarding AlienFX and Command Center.

When the laptop is plugged in, AlienFX functions normally. I'm able to use all of my themes, and switch them out as I please.

When the laptop is running on battery power, AlienFX will not start up, or stay on.  It will come on for around 1 second when booting, then all lights will go dark. If I open Command Center and select a new theme, the theme loads for around a second, and then goes dark again.

Here's something to note: I notice that the power button pulses between the two colors that I've selected for Battery and Plugged in.  According to the settings in Command Center, the Power button is not supposed to pulse between colors, but remain solid.  Not sure why this is happening. One additional thing to note is that I have the new Alienware mouse, which for whatever reason, comes with it's own LED management software called Alienware Control Center. Not sure if these softwares are having issues with eachother, but I've uninstalled it.

Here's what I've tried so far.

  • Making sure that AlienFX was set to "On" in AlienFusion when Plugged In and on Battery Power.
  • Reinstalling Command Center following all steps
  • Updating BIOS and reinstalling Command Center again
  • Uninstalling Control Center for the AW Mouse.
  • Using SupportAssist to test Ambient Lighting while plugged in and on battery power.  It passes in both instances, but the lights fail to light up when testing on battery power.

Any insights are truly appreciated!!

Hi BrotatoTot‌,

Make sure the BIOS is up to date.

Also open power options and select High Performance.

Check this article Alienware Command Center Quick Guide | Dell US  and follow the steps on the Dimmed or No Lights section. Change the Dim Light Zones in battery and Status Zones On during Go Dark (toggle them).
