7.1 speakers via headphone jack?
Is it possible to get my 7.1 speakers to work on the Alienware 15 R3 via the headphone jack? These speakers don't have audio cables. I do get sound just not from all the speakers.

1. Yes, they will work somewhat (you should get some sound).
2. What does that mean? How would you connect the headphone jack without cables/wires?
3. Right. Likely only analog stereo (2 speakers and maybe the sub-woofer).
If Alienware15-R3 has 2 separate 1/8-inch jacks for speakers and then mic ... the speaker jack can only have 3-metal bands or contacts (that's 2 channels and 1 shared ground).

What is your UserType (Permission Level) really ? I thought it was "Validated or Authorized User". Yeah, that sounds better.
Mine just says "Rockstar".

LOL sorry about that, doesn't seem to let me edit, when I meant no cables I meant no hdmi or optical just standard aux. Yeah I get stereo and the sub woofer, just not the center and the two surround.

You use a cheater cord to get all the speakers working.
DELL MMS 5650 speakers come with a 5.1 splitter to do this.
Dell part number is j7331
Dell Has a way of doing it with specific speaker sets.

Those are nice speedstep
He doesn't need amplified (since he has powered speakers) but it would be cool for me to have one of these cheap USB sound-cards with:
- a bit of an amp to drive some nice full-sized headphones at high volume
- compatible with Windows and Mac (like this Syba ) using no drivers and bundled drivers.
Yeah, the Syba with an cheap (but nice and clean) headphone amp (I don't want much do I).

Yes, something like that, but also a digital USB sound-card. Actually, I already have an analog audio headphone amp one like that one, but mine is called FiiO.
