Hi raf22‌,

This is the power LED indicator table.  So the issues is related to the CMOS battery. You can try to fix the problem by resetting the CMOS battery. Use this video as a reference: Alienware Alpha: Remove/Replace Coin Cell Battery - YouTube

But if the issue persists and you need to send it in, yes, the OS will be replaced with the original one.

Power Button LED Pattern Fault Description Fault(s)
1
Motherboard: BIOS ROM failure
Motherboard, BIOS corruption or ROM error
2
Memory

3
Motherboard: Chipset

4

5

CMOS battery failure
6

Dell will support the original software and system hardware. In addition, the Steam Machine comes with steam OS (LINUX). The one that comes with Windows is the Alpha, but not the Steam Machine.

So, if your system came with Steam OS, that's the one that will be installed in case you send it in. Please send me a private message with the service tag so I can check this.

You must also remove from the system any hardware changes that you have made that are not part of the original order and send the original parts.
