13R3 OLED AlienFX Controller not functioning, no backlighting
This is a new issue that cropped up today.
My 13R3 is about a month old, all has been fine outside of the initially buggy wifi drivers. Today I noticed the backlighting was off and would not come on either via the fn+F12 or via taskbar commands. Restarting did not help, nor did changing themes in command center.
I have attempted a command center repair as well as a full uninstall/restart/reinstall from a copy downloaded from Dell's site with no success.
I have received errors stating that AlienFX Controller is having issues communicating with the machine. Command Center also does not recognize the device now.
Any suggestions on where to go from here, it seems like I need to find time to call support tomorrow.
I also noticed that in device manager I know have an unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed).

Yeah, that's an old AW-CC trick from the Windows-8 days (even with the old machines).
I turned it off on my Aurora-R6 desktop also. Like my NVMe SSD needs help being faster.

And the issue is back. AlienFXtester recognizes no board, fast startup is still disabled. I've also uninstalled and re-installed AWCC.

you said you have an unknown device in your Device Manager. is there no Hardware ID under Details tab?
how about Power Drain? have you tried it?

Same issue here; fast start-up disabled, Hardware ID reported as USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE. If I fully power off and leave things for a bit everything starts working again, but only for a while before the same thing happens again.
