XPS 15 9500 - Unable to resume from deep sleep (s3)

The laptop is unable to resume after entering deep sleep (s3).

Pressing the power button to resume turns on the laptop (I can hear the fans) but the screen doesn't turn on, the lights from the keyboard are on when I press them.

I have to push the power button to turn off the computer, and push it once again to start it. At this point the laptop start normally with all the previous state lost.

This is on Clear Linux with kernel 5.7.8

This is a bug in the Dell XPS 9500 BIOS. S3 is broken regardless of kernel and definitely happens on Windows too if you use S3.

From this forum, we can gather that Dell isn't very competent at making a working BIOS.

Thanks for the information @zachsawcs . I didn't try on Windows so it's good to know.

Let's hope that Dell will release a BIOS fixing that.

I read a lot also on reddit,

Please bring back normal s3 sleep or an Option to Switch this,

The Option to complete disable sleep is terrible.

Dell XPS won't wake up from sleep also the battery drain is not okay in modern sleep.

I read Lenovo tried same, but bring back Full funktional s3 sleep over an bios Update
