XPS 13 9300, Ubuntu 18.04, not working with external monitor
I have an XPS 13 9300 which is running Ubuntu 18.04. I'm using the round puck Dell USB-C hub (DA300) to display port to an HP monitor.
It completely unreliable and nothing I do is resulting in reliably plugging in the USB-C cable and outputting to the external monitor.
I've tried using xrandr and specifying the right display which works sometimes but has it's own issues and I shouldn't have to mess with that. It seems to have gotten worse possibly with a kernel update or patches?
Any reliable ways to do this so I don't waste 20 min every day? Ubuntu & kernel version are below.

According to the online DA300 User's Guide, Ubuntu is not supported =

Moving this thread to the Linux General Forum board to get their assistance.

I'm having very similar issues with the DA200, it was working sporadically but since getting the Dell firmware update to 1.4.1 it has stopped working completely.

Same story on Ubuntu 21.10. External monitor through DA200 works only after sleeping mode or reboot. All other stuff like USB port is always fine. Dell XPS 13 9300.
