WD22TB4 dock does not detect HDMI monitor

I can't get my new WD22TB4 to detect my HDMI monitor. The WD22TB4 is hooked up to my LG Gram running latest Ubuntu Kinetic Kudu. The most recent firmware is installed on the WD22TB4.

 

What am I doing wrong?

 

(Note that no such issue happens in Windows! Windows detects the monitor with no trouble whatsoever.)

For those interested, here is a synopsis of my experiments:

  1. LG Gram 2021 (17Z95P-K) on Ubuntu 22.10:
    1. with Dell WD22TB4 dock does NOT(!) detect HDMI or DP monitors;
    2. with QGeem T4802 (DisplayLink!) dock does detect HDMI or DP monitors.
  2. LG Gram 2022 (17Z90Q-K) on Ubuntu 22.10:
    1. with Dell WD22TB4 dock does detect HDMI or DP monitors;
    2. with QGeem T4802 (DisplayLink!) dock does detect HDMI or DP monitors.

Apparently there is an issue with the LG Gram 2021 + WD22TB4 combination. LG and Dell should get together and look into this.
