Ussing KDE Plasma on Ubuntu Dell xps 13 9310
Im waiting for a new Dell XPS 13 9310 with Ubuntu 20.04 preinstalled. But this version has Gnome as Environment Desktop. I would like to change it to KDE Plasma but Im not sure if it will work well.
So I need to any advice about this issue.
Thanks
Josef

Within Linux distributions, all you need to do for installing an additional desktop environment, is to install the desktop environment. Commonly on major Linux distributions, rather than specifying specific package names or specifying multiple packages for installing, the major distributions usually create a class name or generic name for easier installation. eg. package_install_tool kde
It is very likely the Dell Ubuntu provided distribution ISO/file has modifications or custom configurations for you hardware. I would suggest, rather than downloading another Ubuntu install image, keep your existing software installed and installing the additional KDE desktop alongside Gnome. Later, as you gain more experience, you can diff the two identical installs and document any possible custom configurations or custom drives. (I'll readily guess, it is very likely they're identical, with only the method Dell using for storing the images on the hardware's disk drive partitions for rescue/restore options.)
After you install KDE, you'll have an additional KDE desktop option within your graphical login manager for choosing, aside the Gnome option.
