Ubuntu: Not at full screen in VirtualBOX

I am running windows 7 x64 Ultimate and have installed VirtualBOX.

I installed an XP virtual machine and everything is fine but the UBUNTU machine does not fill up the screen.

They have the same Video Settings.

The system is an XPS 8300.

Any ideas to as how to make Ubuntu take up the full screen (Same space as the XP screen). Note setting to full screen in VirtualBOX just hides the Windows 7 toolbar on the LHS but UBUNTU only takes half the screen up with the huge unused border.

Hi RobinBrendon

There is a way to fix it. c.f. here.

I followed the instructions given. However took ages because UBUNTU also wanted to update.

So the layout is different and I must now mess around with it. However as you can see it worked very nicely.

I guess there will be a similar mechanism in your MINT but I am very unfamiliar with Linux.

Hi, You won't get it any better, I'm running Mint 11 in VirtualBox, and it is the same size as your's.

Suggestions.  Change the video resolution on the guest OS and make sure that the taskbar can hide.  That may help.
