S3221QS, no Linux support
I'm a long term Linux user and supporter and I've worked for a Major Linux Vendor for 10 years. I'm very surprised when I'm informed that my new S3221QS is only supported by Dell under Windows.
I've finally replaced my trust 2407WFP with this 32" beauty and for the most part the monitor works well with Fedora and my Lenovo T480s.
Three issues
- Big gaps in the manual, particularly around describing features. I can't even work out how to set the default input to DP.
- I can't update the firmware under Linux. Dell is pretty good at supporting LVFS (https://fwupd.org/lvfs/) so I'd like to see this remedied.
- I can't get a sane response out of support other than please re-test under Windows 10 - I don't have a single piece of hardware in my house that runs Windows, and most of my relatives run Mac rather than Windows.
Argh..

Thanks for posting your testing results. Although Dell does not offer any Linux drivers for the S3221QS, it is good information from you.
Big gaps in the manual, particularly around describing features. I can't even work out how to set the default input to DP.
* Page 42. Open the Menu OSD
* Go to Input Source
* Change Auto Select to Off
* Check DP
I can't update the firmware under Linux. Dell is pretty good at supporting LVFS (https://fwupd.org/lvfs/) so I'd like to see this remedied.
* I do not see ANY firmware updates on the S3221QS driver page. I see the Windows operating system driver and two versions of the DDM (Dell Display Manager). But even if a firmware update was offered, it would specifically show you what operating systems it supported. For example, the U3219Q offers a firmware update which shows =
I can't get a sane response out of support other than please re-test under Windows 10. I don't have a single piece of hardware in my house that runs Windows, and most of my relatives run Mac rather than Windows.
* Again, the S3221QS driver page only shows Windows operating systems. So support is following Dell policy.

I was told by your support team that the monitor was only supported under Windows and I needed to update the Firmware. I also looked for a firmware and couldn't find one.
I highly recommend you use LVFS (https://fwupd.org/) to publish all your firmware updates where possible.
Regarding default monitor page 42 of the manual states
Reset Input Source - Select this option to restore default Input Source.
But nowhere does it state how to set the default input source.

I was told by your support team that the monitor was only supported under Windows and I needed to update the Firmware. I also looked for a firmware and couldn't find one.
* They were incorrect as we showed above.
I highly recommend you use LVFS (https://fwupd.org/) to publish all your firmware updates where possible.
* Dell would not post Dell firmware to a non-Dell website.
Regarding default monitor page 42 of the manual states,
"Reset Input Source - Select this option to restore default Input Source"
But nowhere does it state how to set the default input source.
* The picture on page 42 shows DP as checked. The checked Input is the default input source. As I stated above, change Auto Select to Off, then "check" which Input you want to use.

So it appears my Lenovo Dock won't support 60Hz video over Display Port so I've ordered an adapter from Dell.
Sadly that order has now been delayed by over a month despite having a delivery estimate of a week when I originally ordered the item.
Has anyone here confirmed that Audio over DisplayPort works from a Linux system?
If I used a DP -> HDMI adapted audio works, but I really want to use the display port connection and keep my HDMI ports available for other devices.

I'm so glad I found this thread - I'm about to order this monitor to be used with my DELL Precision 9680 workstation running Linux.
Can one of DELL people give me an update about Linux support for this monitor?
Thanks!

I have a little different model S3221QSA <= (note the A). I cannot find even windows utility to update firmware for this model.
When I try to update firmware by Monitor Firmaware Update Utility with M2C103 firmware version I get "The firmware package is not for this monitor" .
Surprisingly the monitor works under Linux in resolution 3840x2160@30Hz but in Windows I have only max 2560x1440@60 on my Dell Optiplex 7010 workstation . I thought the firmware will fix it, but as I said there is no new firmware.
