Reboot and Shutdown Issues: Dell Precision 3660
Hello, I'm hoping to find some direction to fix power issue with a new Dell Precision 3660 workstation. This is a brand new system - it was purchased with Windows 11 preinstalled, but we wiped the SSD immediately to install Kubuntu 22.04 LTS.
The issue is that during either reboot or shutdown, the system hangs and must be fully powered down by holding the power button until it physically powers down. Following the hard powerdown, restarts are inconsistent: it usually boots to a splash screen, hangs, then we hold the power button again until it is fully powered down. A second restart using the power button is usually successful.
Can anyone point me in a direction to diagnose and/or fix this? I absolutely need this workstation to operate remotely, so the ability to reboot and power down cleanly is essential.
For example:
1. With Kubuntu running, request reboot from the KDE power menu or by running `sudo reboot` from konsole.
2. System starts reboot process, switching to the splash screen with the Dell logo at the center and "ubuntu" in the bottom center. The "ubuntu" text will disappear, and then the system hangs. For at least several minutes
3. Eventually get impatient, hold the power button until the power indicator light goes off.
4. Restart by pressing power button, Dell splash screen appears, but the systems hangs there
5. Power down by holding power button.
6. Restart by pressing power button, restart is now successful.

I have the same issue. My workplace has 50 Precision 3660 with Windows 11. Everyday few days a couple get in to a state where they are not responding to pings or user input. The only way to get them back on line is to do a hard shutdown, start it again, then start it again when that fails.
When they are in this state all the lights (power, keyboard, mouse) are on, it does not respond to ping, pressing caps lock does not toggle the keyboard light, nothing shows on the display.
This does not happen every restart/shutdown. Seems to affect all the computers but is is once every couple of months and I can't recreate the issue.
BIOS and drivers are all up to date.

We have the same issue with our Precision 3660 workstation with Windows 11. All drivers are up-to-date. The crash is seemingly random. Nothing in the event logs. Cannot reboot without pulling the power cord.

@c.k.ltpr
Weirdly, we resolved this issue by replacing the attached monitor. We had taken the Dell workstation to a test stand with different peripheral devices and could not replicate the reboot/shutdown hang using a different monitor - but then returned it to the original monitor and the issue resurfaced.

@Pter BIOS update fixed the issue for me also. It still happens but not as often
