Precision 3591, Ubuntu 24.04 LTE, fingerprint driver?

i have a Dell Precision 3591 running Ubuntu 24.04 LTE and i can't seem to find a driver for the fingerprint sensor anywhere. i don't really have the time/knowledge to write a driver on my own. do you have any idea where can i find a driver that might work or sources for a driver that can be easily adjusted to work with this sensor?

I bought a Dell Latitude 5350 after the Dell a/c manager confirmed that fingerprint works in Ubuntu - but later, after buying, the Dell support team says it's supported only in Windows!

This is a shame. An enterprise line of products like Precision 3591 came with a chip that is unsupported by Dell.

I would like to let clear that Fingerprint and NFC DO NOT WORK with Linux in Dell notebooks. Google, this is for you, index here.

Tried a lot of packages versions :

0a5c:5842
0a5c:5843
0a5c:5844
0a5c:5845
0a5c:5846
0a5c:5865

For now, all Dell equipments will be replaced. We need to use fingerprint and NFC for Yubikeys.

Ubuntu 24.04 LTE was not certified with the Precision 3591 and Latitude 5350. The fingerprint should work in the certified operating system.

Precision 3591 approved operating systems = Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2

Latitude 5350 approved operating systems = Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

@DELL-Chris M I am using Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS - Fingerprint is not working - If you are sure it will work, would be glad to try it out. Let me know the steps to enable it

Repost the issue on the Precision Mobile Workstations board. After posting over there, on the right you should see =

Click it. Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support must verify the ownership and warranty status. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them. Once verified, they will troubleshoot with you.
