Optiplex 3050 MT and nvidia 1030 gt Linux issues
Hello
I am having constant micro freezes under all linux distros i have tried with a nvidia 1030 gt when using the proprietary drivers. I have tried multiple versions of the proprietary drivers same issue. Under Windows everything is working perfectly but would love to be able to use my 1030 gt under linux. no similar issues i could find with a 1030 gt and the many linux distros . Is there anything i could do with the bios that might fix the issue such as downgrading or changing an option. Hopefully someone would be able to help.

Hopefully, someone will answer.
However, this doesn't sound like "a Dell problem" . Meaning, it doesn't sound like a "hardware problem" which is a good thing. Anyway, I think you will have better luck in a Linux-focused forum.

You are right i should probably post on a linux focused forum. It's just that i have googled most of the popular linux forums and didn't find any post with a similar issue with their 1030 gt.

There are too many people who want water chicken installs of every distro under the sun. There is support for Redhat, Ubuntu, Suse, etc but its not free.
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is listed. Earlier than 12.04.5 is not supported because UEFI is No longer optional.
The Dell forum is not the teach me linux forum. You are unlikely to get help at all on such a new system let alone with the proprietary drivers.
Bios was updated last month

Yeah, well ... when you have actual work to do and you just need the computer to work 100% (and/or be able to get support when it isn't) is why 85% of the people in the world use Windows.
Next choice is Apple at 10%.
Good-ole proprietary closed-source Operating Systems developed by companies running a business and try to make money (to pay their employees ... among other things) ... there's nothing like it. :Stickouttongue:

I didn't mention anything about closed source being bad not sure why you had to bring it up especially since the dell came pre-installed with ubuntu. either way ill see myself out obviously i am on the wrong forum

Sorry, it was a joke.
However, to tell you the truth ... I didn't realize I had drifted from the OptiPlex forum to the Linux-OS Forum. I don't see it tagged as "Moved" so, I will try to be more careful in the future.
