install openSUSE Tumbleweed on T7400 via usb

I downloaded Tumbleweed iso from OpenSUSE.  I  copied it to usb memory stick using dd.  I successfully used the usb memory stick to install Tumbleweed on Dell XPS 8940 (after moving usb to top of boot order).

I attempted the same on T7400, same memory stick., same boot order.

Upon power on, T7400 gives a blinking dash in upper left of terminal, dark grey background.  Nothing more.

I tried using other of the several usb ports, with same result.

Any ideas?
