Inspiron 17R Laptop BOOTMGR IS MISSING

Hello,

I recently had this laptop running with Windows 8.1 and had to go into the BIOS to change it from AHCI to Legacy so that I could install Windows 7.  When I boot the laptop after installing Windows 7 it will not boot.  I keep getting the message that BOOTMGR IS MISSING.  I have to go into the Boot Options when booting and select the Hard Drive as my option and Windows boots successfully.  I tried putting the system back into the original configuration but it doesnt boot either.  I dont want to have to push F12 every time the laptop boots so that I can tell it to boot to the Hard Drive.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

I figured it out.  I just had to go into the BIOS and change the values for the Boot order.  I set the HDD for the first option.

All I get for model is Inspiron 17R (Early 2013) Inspiron 5721.

I completely removed Windows 8.1 by using the Windows 7 Professional Disk to delete all additional partitions and installed Windows 7 Professional on one whole partition.

And the question was already solved by me earlier.

Thanks for the reply though.

Lots of 17R laptops--the rest of the model number is important. Also explain what OS it has now--dual boot, win 7 or win 8. Look up the Fixboot command. See if this applies--
