How does OEM package work ?
Hello all,
I'm wondering how the Dell repository provided with OEM, and updated using this ,
http://dell.archive.canonical.com/updates/dists/f
is currently working.
Let's say, you are on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on a Vostro 5490 for example.
Given that, since it's Ubuntu 18, there is the following repository bionic-beaver-osp1-[codename]-meta package
Codename depends on your computer, for Vostro 5490 it's worm and/or missandei.
This repository provides tweaks and stuff you can set up in Additional firmware, given you installed the packages before.
And you can pick up options (randomly?) from here.
Now let's say you want to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04. should you change your source to use the new repository focal-somerville[codename]-meta package ?
My guess would be yes if codename is still here, like for XPS 13 Melisa
But if it's not, should you add focal-somerville at least or is it irrelevant ? Is oem packages installed from missandei or worm are still useful ?
It's not that I noticed anything wrong, but I would like to get the way Dell deals with firmware.
Any help will be appreciated
