Dell XPS 2020 : random, frequent crashes in i915 driver
Brand new Dell XPS 2020 (2 weeks old)
Having random and frequent Xorg crashes and crashes happen in the i915 driver in the kernel
Using latest 1.0.7 firmware, up to date Ubuntu 18.04 running latest kernel
Linux asgard 5.0.0-1052-oem-osp1 #57-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 4 11:39:08 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I can reproduce it easily in searching for visual studio code in software. The window seems to hang while searching for software, then the whole Xorg hangs, dies, and I am ejected back to the login screen with all applications and programs that were running killed.
Bug report opened, and it's a duplicate of another user report :

To avoid the crashes a temporary fix is :
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings antialiasing 'grayscale'
