Dell XPS 2020 9300 : cannot work with Kington USB keys
I have bought a pack of 3 32 Gb Kington keys from Amazon
Reference :Kingston Data Traveler 100 G3 - DR100G3/32GB-3P
Those keys do not work properly on the Dell XPS 2020 model 9300
They keep connecting, disconnecting in loop all the time
Tested both with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with latest available kernel and all patches
Same behavior when booting a Fedora LiveUSB with latest Fedora 32
I have tried the Dell supplied adapter, and a RamPow USB-A to USB-C : same problem
No other key shows this problem on the machine : I have been able to use a Corsair 128 Gb key, and about a dozen chinese noname keys with sizes ranging from 4 Gb to 64 Gb.
I do not know why. But those keys, that work properly on a Windows 10 machine, behave very badly under both Ubuntu and Fedora. They are not usable with the Dell XPS 2020 9300
DO NOT buy those keys if you have this machine. They will be useless.
If anyone at Dell is reading this, I can supply you with my emails exchanges with the Kingston support. You will have to see with them what's happening on Linux with those keys.
I have reported the problem on askUbuntu but after several weeks no one seems interested.
Those keys are thus going back to Amazon, and I will report they are useless with Dell XPS 2020 9300 model.
