Dell Repository Manager - Linux - Deleted install folder - Cannot reinstall

Hello everyone!

I am quite new to this. I have purchased a used Poweredge R530 Server for my home lab. The machine hadn't received any updates. It is still running the original BIOS. So I need to update BIOS and Firmware to make upgrades (RAM, CPU, etc.)

I tried to make updates over Lifecycle Controller and iDRAC, but it didn't work. And the versions it has are so old, that it doesn't have the option to update from the server over internet. The alternative is using a USB. I found out that in order to make the USB for Lifecycle Controller is to generate a repostory and a "Deployment" with Dell Repository Manager.

So I installed Dell Repository Manager on my laptop and proceeded to create the repository and transfer the Catalog to the USB Drive.

The R530 server and Lifecycle Controller recognized the Catalog and suggested to update the BIOS and the iDRAC firmware with Lifecycle Controller, but in the process of uploading them issued and error about missing certificates.

I imagined that maybe the problem was that I was trying to make to big of an update. So I searched if I could find older versions of the firmware and BIOS in Dell Repository Manager. But no.

Therefore I tried to install an older version of Dell Repository Manager (3.0.1), the quasi-earliest in Linux. But the installation program issued an error because another version was installed.

I tried to uninstall the latest version I had first installed with the uninstall script in the installation folder, but nothing occured. So I deleted the installation folder... mistake!

Now I can't install neither the old version nor the latest version. And the installation file cannot repair the program neither.

Somehow, my Fedora Linux is telling the installation program that another instance is already installed. I have also removed the local folder in home: .com.dell.drm.view.DRMGUI

I have also restarted my laptop, but the installation program keeps issuing an error saying that another instance is already installed.

HELP! How can I fully remove the previous installation and reinstall DRM?

Thanks!

I think I found the culprit. Fortunately the User Guide is very comprehensive:

https://dl.dell.com/content/manual37757124-dell-repository-manager-version-3-4-8-user-s-guide.pdf?language=en-us

In the Frequently Asked Questions section there is the subsection:

Why am I not able to upgrade or reinstall DRM?

And for the Linux operating system it says:

"For the Linux operating system—Delete the product element that is named Dell Repository Manager present in the .com.zerog.registry file in \var folder and then reinstall DRM."

Nevertheless, it is always advisable to read the full section because it contains other recommendations. But in my case, this is what will probably work.
