I received my other laptop and it had a working wwan card in it, I swapped it with the other laptop and it started working.

Are the antennas correctly connected to the system, and have you installed a SIM or eSIM in the system depending on what version of the card you have?

@ejn63 I have installed a Verizon sim and I could not find any information on how to correctly install the antennas to verify they are installed correctly.

The antennae connect directly to the WWAN ccard inside the system.

Service manual has the details.

Looks like the leads are reversed -- white wire should be on MAIN, black to AUX.

If your WWAN card (DW5821e Qualcomm Snapdragon X20) isn't connecting on your Dell 5420 Rugged, here's what you can try:
Double-Check the Card Connection: Make sure the card is properly seated in the M.2 slot and the antenna cables are securely connected. If they’re loose or disconnected, you won’t get a signal.
Check the BIOS Settings: Some laptops have a setting in BIOS to enable or disable the WWAN card. Make sure it's enabled there.
Driver Update: You mentioned updating the drivers, but it's worth checking if you’ve installed the right drivers specifically for the DW5821e. Sometimes generic drivers won’t work as expected. Also, try reinstalling the drivers using the Dell support page to get the exact ones needed for your system.
Check Mobile Network: Make sure your SIM card is properly inserted and activated with a mobile network. You can test the card in another device to see if the issue is with the card or your Dell.
Windows Network Settings: Go to Device Manager and check for any yellow exclamation marks next to the WWAN card. If you see one, try uninstalling the device and rebooting, which can force Windows to reinstall it correctly.
Test with a Different SIM: If you have a spare SIM card from a different provider or a known working one, try that to rule out a SIM card issue.
If none of this works, there could be an issue with the card or the laptop’s hardware. You may need to contact Dell support or consider testing with a different WWAN card.

Hi
I would try the getmac command in DOS (or similar), and see how many there are listed, with and without the WWAN card.

Hi
After trying the getmac command, try
driverquery > C:\Users\YourUsername\Desktop\DriverList.txt
which lists all the drivers in a txt file for you to search.
OR the less helpful ...
wmic /output:C:\InstalledSoftwareList.txt product get name version

@ann_droid ( cxwmbclass USB Mobile Broadband A Kernel ) is the only one listed that looks like it would be it. I do not see any other drivers that look related, it lists four devices when installed and three removed. DW5821e-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-X20-LTE-Firmware-and_HY6V9_WIN_1.0.1.30_A03_03 is the driver I have installed. It is recognized in device manager and there are no warnings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device as well. I have reached out to Dell tech support and did not get anywhere and they just want to sell me a new computer and I will not do that. I have ordered another 5420 rugged that should be here today however I am unsure if it is set up for cellular, if it is i will try this wwan card in that one and see if i get different results

It sounds like the card is functional - if it's not seeing a network to connect to, Verizon would be the place to go next.
