Multiple 5550's Switch to Portrait Mode during OOBE

I've had this happen to multiple Latitude 5550's: Sometimes when I close the lid to a 5550 during the Out-of-Box-Experience (OOBE) prior to first sign-in, the laptop switches to portrait mode. This will persists through reboots. Trying to power down the unit brings up the tablet "Swipe down to power down" animation which leads me to believe the computer thinks its a tablet. These are not touchscreen devices or even 2-in-1s.

This should not be happening to brand new devices fresh out of the box.
