I think I did something terrible to my Latitude 5501
Recently I noticed that the fan would spin fast once I plug in the charger, I downloaded a software that monitors CPU temperature and the I found out that the Max temperature the CPU reaches when laptop plugged in is 100 celsius.
The first thing I did was replacing the thermal paste and when I turned on to check the same problem persists.
I read online that the overheating might be caused from overheating VRMs, so what I did was that I looked for the VRMs on the motherboard and I thought that the rectangular grey components with codes on them are the VRMs(The ones showen on picture number 1 alongside the CPU chip)and I thought that because there is a cover connected to the heatsink that has thermal pads underneath making contact with these rectangular components.
I thought that adding another layer of thermal pads while solvent the overheating issue so I inserted new thermal pads over the existing ones and put the heat sink back and powerd on the laptop after connecting the battery again to the motherboard only to see a critical error message that reds “battery not installed” in BIOS diagnostic tool. since then I shut down the laptop and removed the extra thermal pads but the laptop still not detecting the battery.
I know it’s a very long story but I really need your help.

Maybe the issue is not the thermal pads on the VRAM, for me it looks like way to much thermal grease on the CPU. Since usually thermal grease is a conductor you most probably short circuitted something. A video how to apply is https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/resources/how-to-apply-thermal-paste.html
