(I) ME Chipset Driver installation ? - Windows 10 Pro

The 2nd-hand Latitude 5410 I have was originally purchased as customized; specifically the Intel ME was disabled at the factory. Since I don't think that can ever be un-done I'm tending toward *not* installing the Critical IME Components Installer (upgrade). Since it is considered a chipset 'device' I'd like to install it before reviewing the non-chipset drivers.

There is mention of Intel Management Engine WMI Provider in the Device Manager but I don't think this is the same device driver as the IME critical update. Really have no clue as to what to do. Install or not ?

While AMT function of Intel ME has been disabled from factory, other key functions are still active and needing proper driver for proper functioning.  It's still a main part during firmware update.

Verify in Device Manager.  You will see if any unknown driver or driver with issue.  That is very likely from Intel ME driver missing.  You should install latest IME driver to keep your system fully function.

I see no yellow/red marks. Nothing seems out of place. I will set a restore point and attempt the install. I thank you for sharing on an advanced issue.

You were bang on. Did the BIOS update this AM. After it was finished (successfully) it moved on to 3 or 4 other firmware updates while on 2 occasions saying an update was not necessary for (2) pieces of firmware. Large !

It *did not* change any of the settings including the ACHI controller one. I will probably try to set it to Raid On and deal with a clean install if I have to. Probably want to in any case. I thought I had a clean install with the OOBE, etc but I did see mention of one failed Windows update. It has a digial license if that has any bearing on my freedom of action re the OS installations going forward. You never know what you're getting when it's not new. Thankyou bigly. Bill
