Enhancing Linux Support for Legacy ALPS Touchpads on Older Latitude Models - Great PR for Dell

Hi Dell Community & Team, I'm a big fan of older Dell Latitude laptops (I own three!) as platforms for Linux newcomers and experimenters. They're durable, upgradable, and affordable used — perfect for learning distros like Ubuntu, MX, or Fedora. The one consistent weak point across models with ALPS DualPoint touchpads is jittery/shaky cursor performance under Linux (libinput or synaptics fallback).
Windows handles it smoothly via proprietary drivers, but the open-source alps driver lacks the advanced filtering. This often discourages new users despite everything else working great. Suggestion: Could Dell consider reaching out to Alps Alpine for minimal protocol specs or filtering parameters to help upstream improvements into the Linux kernel/libinput? Even small quirks or a community guide would help a lot.
This would be excellent PR: Showcases Dell's commitment to Linux (building on Developer Editions), appeals to developers/tinkerers, and promotes sustainability by extending the usable life of these machines (reducing e-waste). Happy to provide details from my setups (e.g., /proc/bus/input/devices shows "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad"). What do you think — worth pursuing? Thanks for any thoughts or escalation.
