E7240 Laptop - Won't start.
Power supply light is on. as charger is connected.
When I press power button, its light goes on, for a few secs, then both off.
I have a new battery so it is not that.
What can it be. The CMOS battery.
It hasn't been used for a while, maybe 6 months.
Thanks

Unplug the system and disconnect the battery. Hold the power button for 30 sec.
Verify that the AC adapter is working (LED on the DC plug is on before you plug in the notebook end).
Try powering up on AC only -- if the system will, the battery is the issue. If it won't, the mainboard is the issue.
Any repair plans should be carefully evaluated in light of the value of the system -- well under $100 (and probably half that).
