📘 Dell Latitude 5510 Laptop

🔧 WHAT HAPPENED:

1. There was a short circuit during use, which:

Burned the charger

Caused the laptop to shut down suddenly

The battery had around 20% charge at the time

2. After the short circuit:

The laptop does not power on

No beeps or sounds

The orange LED lights up for a few seconds on the DC-in port (round pin), then turns off

No burning smell detected

No visibly damaged components

Both the USB-C and DC-in charging ports appear intact, but do not charge

3. With a new charger, the lapmargin: 0;">

Does not show any LED on the USB-C port

On the DC-in port, the orange LED turns on briefly, then goes off

Does not respond to the power button, even when held for 30 seconds

A power reset (RTC reset) using the power button did not work

The system needs at least a mainboard at this point -- and there could  be other damaged components inside (memory, drive, etc.).  How much money you want to spend on a notebook worth less than $200 is a question you'll have to answer before deciding on a repair vs replace plan.
