Dell Latitude 5490

Good day.

I have a customer that claims the laptop got water damage and he immediately unplugged the Laptop.
The laptop switches on completely and works perfectly fine but does not charge when you plugged it in.

I tested the most obvious paths of DC flow as far as possible.

The Power jack is fine and most of the DC path is clear.

Where can I possibly find schematics for the laptop to diagnose more intensely?

Unfortunately, there are no schematics available.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

You can buy a schematic from www.laptop-schematics.com

That said, before you spend money on that, do you have a parts source and the required hot air rework station and skills to do the repair?

The entire system can be replaced for $100 or so -- plus or minus a few dollars.

@LeonardusdB

grab a used docking station for the 5490 and charge the laptop using the dock.

@ejn63 thanks for the information regarding the schematics.

I do have a part source and some second hand spare part stash, Just needed the schematics.

Hot air station sorted thanks.

Will keep you updated if I manage to sort the problem.
