DELL Latitude 5400. Touchpad Issue: Lighting Issue:
Touchpad Issue:
The cursor moves correctly when I use the touchpad.
However, none of the multi-touch gestures (e.g., two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, three-finger swipes, etc.) are working.
Lighting Issue:
Both the keyboard backlight and the screen (display) light are not turning off automatically.
They remain constantly on, even when they should typically go off (e.g., after a period of inactivity, or when attempting to manually turn them off using function keys).
I have already tried basic restarts.
Could you please guide me on further troubleshooting steps or a potential solution?
Thank you.

Start with a check of the condition of the battery. It's not uncommon for touchpad and keyboard issues to be the first sign of a battery that's starting to swell at end of life.
Remove the base cover and check the battery. If it is at all swollen, remove it and dispose of it outside your home or office immediately and run on AC only until you can order a replacement.
